“I've worked at my job for 24 years. I have 2 children. My job allowed me to have stability to know that if my kids were sick, I could take off if need be. It's been a blessing to have this job. It's important for the Black community to have greater access public sector jobs. Since public sector work is the type of work I do, I know the wages. The public sector has given the Black community access to the middle class. The importance of unions in public sector jobs important. The union is there to fight for us who work for the city. It's been a blessing to have the job.”
